Technical Program Manager, Platform Services

Motive•Seattle, WA
•$190,000 - $235,000

About The Position

Motive is hiring a Technical Program Manager for its Platform Services Organization, which provides foundational infrastructure, developer tooling, cloud operations, SRE reliability, data pipelines, and core services. The role is a strategic operational leader responsible for high-impact, cross-cutting technical programs across Motive’s product and engineering organization. The position reports to the VP of Platform Services Engineering. The Technical Program Manager leads complex programs that strengthen platform foundations and improve engineering delivery at scale. Working across engineering teams and partner functions, the role drives planning, execution, risk management, and operations; aligns teams around outcomes; improves execution across interdependent roadmaps; and drives platform adoption and architectural change. It is focused on cross-functional orchestration rather than day-to-day sprint-board administration.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in technical program management, engineering program management, or a related role within software, infrastructure, or platform organizations.
  • At least 15 years of experience in the technology industry.
  • Track record leading large, ambiguous, multi-team programs with significant cross-functional dependencies and measurable business or platform impact.
  • Strong technical fluency and ability to engage credibly with engineering leaders and teams on architecture, trade-offs, delivery risks, and execution plans.
  • Ability to structure programs, drive decision-making, and solve complex problems in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Experience building alignment across senior stakeholders and improving communication, governance, and execution across interdependent teams.
  • Bias for action and root-cause problem solving, including experience actively unblocking delivery rather than focusing only on administrative tracking.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize technical complexity into executive summaries and trade-off matrices.
  • Experience establishing objective metrics to govern program success, such as MetricSense, Datadog dashboards, SLO attainment, and cost trends.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Must be authorized to receive and access commodities and technologies controlled under U.S. Export Administration Regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Background as a Software Engineer, Systems or Delivery Architect, or Technical Product Manager before moving into TPM leadership.
  • Experience driving AI-assisted developer workflow tooling or agentic automation in developer environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the VP of Platform Services and Engineering Managers to turn organizational priorities into executable program roadmaps with measurable business outcomes.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of complex, cross-functional technical programs across Platform Services Engineering, from definition and planning through delivery and adoption.
  • Align engineering and partner teams by managing goals, milestones, dependencies, decisions, and execution risks through clear operating rhythms.
  • Build scalable program mechanisms, including roadmap reviews, status reporting, escalation paths, and success metrics.
  • Identify systemic issues and execution gaps early, and lead teams toward practical, durable solutions.
  • Influence technical and business stakeholders to make informed trade-off decisions and keep strategic initiatives moving.
  • Mentor others in program management practices and help raise execution standards across engineering.
  • Drive Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews, executive reporting, and cross-organizational communications.
  • Collaborate with Product leadership to map the product roadmap into programs spanning multiple product engineering teams.
  • Implement dynamic program tracking frameworks, such as Gantt charts or single-source-of-truth models, to flag delivery risks in advance.

Benefits

  • Health, pharmacy, optical, and dental care benefits, subject to eligibility requirements.
  • Paid time off and sick time off.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Life insurance.
  • 401(k) contribution, subject to eligibility requirements.
