About The Position

Baseten is hiring a Technical Product Marketing Manager to explain its products clearly to technical users and buyers. Baseten’s products include dedicated inference, Model APIs, training and post-training, and an enterprise platform. This role works across product lines, focusing on the launch, narrative, or competitive gap that matters most and partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and product marketing. The role requires quickly understanding technical products, their position against alternatives, and how to communicate their value to ML engineers and buyers. The manager owns product positioning and messaging, develops launch plans and marketing assets, analyzes competitors and customer feedback, and equips Sales and Solutions teams with relevant training and materials. The role combines strategy with hands-on execution, ensuring technical claims are accurate and product stories support Baseten’s broader platform narrative.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in product marketing, technical marketing, or developer marketing.
  • At least 2 years marketing to developers or technical buyers at an infrastructure, developer tools, cloud, data, or AI company.
  • Strong writing ability, including the ability to clarify dense technical topics without oversimplifying them; writing samples are requested.
  • Technical fluency, including comfort reading documentation, asking engineers specific questions, and learning concepts such as inference, autoscaling, fine-tuning, and open- versus closed-weight models.
  • Hands-on competitive analysis experience, including in-depth product comparisons and using findings to change positioning, messaging, or sales strategy.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar products and markets quickly and move between them.
  • Experience launching technical products or capabilities, including deciding what and how to launch.
  • Ability to own both strategy and execution, including landing pages, decks, one-pagers, and written content.
  • Experience working at a fast-moving startup with multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, inference, model serving, or model training and post-training.
  • Experience marketing to ML engineers, platform engineers, infrastructure leaders, or technical executives.
  • Experience building competitive positioning against cloud providers, inference providers, model API companies, or internal platforms.
  • Experience in an adjacent role such as solutions engineering, product management, developer relations, technical writing, or industry or equity research covering AI or infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Own positioning and messaging for Baseten products across inference, Model APIs, training and post-training, and the core platform, for ML engineers, platform teams, and executive buyers.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to understand product architecture, tradeoffs, and roadmap, and ensure technical claims are accurate and grounded in product behavior.
  • Keep product-level messaging consistent with Baseten’s platform narrative.
  • Write technically credible messaging without excessive implementation detail.
  • Build and run launch plans for new products and major capabilities, including internal enablement and external announcements.
  • Determine whether product updates warrant a full launch or should be communicated through documentation, sales enablement, or targeted customer outreach.
  • Create launch assets such as messaging briefs, landing pages, technical blog posts, demo storylines, sales decks, one-pagers, and FAQs.
  • Partner with Demand Gen, Sales, Solutions, and Customer Marketing to develop campaigns and support deals.
  • Track competitors across inference providers, model API companies, hyperscalers, and internal DIY platforms, including their pricing, packaging, launches, and messaging.
  • Develop a point of view on where Baseten wins and loses, and use competitive analysis to sharpen positioning.
  • Speak with customers and sellers to understand buying criteria, objections, and deal blockers, and bring concrete recommendations to Product and Marketing.
  • Build battlecards, competitive talk tracks, objection-handling guides, and product training for sellers.
  • Work with Sales and Solutions to identify and close enablement gaps.
