Technical Product Marketing Manager

Gigs•San Francisco, NY

About The Position

Gigs is hiring a Technical Product Marketing Manager to clarify how its mobile connectivity platform is structured, named, positioned, and sold. The role sits close to product and engineering, develops a thorough understanding of the platform and its roadmap, and turns that knowledge into clear product structure and messaging for partners, employees, and investors. Product marketing defines what Gigs says and calls its products, then briefs brand marketing on external content. The role reports to the Head of Marketing and works closely with the founders, who prefer to review work early. The position also helps develop a long-term narrative for Gigs’ AI work and shape how the company is described across AI-driven channels. This is a new role at Gigs and is hybrid in the San Francisco or New York offices. Compensation is $200,000–$270,000 annually, plus equity and benefits; the final offer may vary based on background, skills, and interview performance.

Requirements

  • Technical product marketing experience, with a background close to engineering or deep experience understanding products in a technical-writer-like manner.
  • Ability to read and follow architecture documentation and API references.
  • Structured thinking and the ability to break a platform into clear categories and establish a naming system.
  • Senior experience owning positioning for a product line or launch, and the ability to set an independent agenda.
  • Strong, clear, precise, concise writing that works for engineers and partner product leaders.
  • Self-direction: ability to identify and engage the right people, ask focused questions, and make progress without a detailed brief.
  • Ability to communicate the same product capability effectively to technical, partner-executive, and investor audiences.
  • Commercial instinct and understanding of how product segmentation and packaging affect price and margin, and how bundling can differentiate a phone plan.
  • Comfort showing unfinished work to founders, accepting direct feedback, and defending decisions with sound reasoning.
  • Daily use of AI to work faster, with judgment about when human judgment should take over.
  • A platform or infrastructure background, such as payments, fintech, developer platforms, or infrastructure software, is relevant; alumni of acquired companies are of particular interest.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building a product taxonomy or naming system from scratch.
  • Familiarity with carriers, eSIM, or B2B2C models.
  • Background at an acquired company.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the platform in depth by working with product and engineering teams, reviewing the roadmap, and understanding how the product works.
  • Create a taxonomy for the platform, naming its parts consistently across teams.
  • Work with product and commercial teams to segment and package the platform into distinct products that can be sold.
  • Develop tailored product narratives for partners, employees, and investors, including product sections of investor materials.
  • Brief brand marketing on messaging and content, including engineering blog posts and external stories.
  • Build a longer-term narrative for Gigs’ AI work with the founders and product teams.
  • Turn the roadmap into messaging for sales and partner marketers, and help partners understand how to bundle and differentiate phone plans where useful.
  • Maintain consistent terminology for verticals, departments, and products; keep the glossary current and identify inconsistent usage.
  • Share work and new thinking early with founders through short updates and live walkthroughs, incorporating feedback while work can still change.
  • Use AI tools in research and drafting, and help shape how Gigs is described by LLMs and other AI-driven channels.
