Technical Product Marketing Manager

Gigs•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $270,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Gigs is hiring its first Technical Product Marketing Manager to translate its mobile-services platform into a clear, consistent, and commercially useful product story. The role sits closely with product and engineering, develops a deep understanding of the platform and its roadmap, and establishes product structure, taxonomy, naming, and positioning. Product marketing operates upstream of brand marketing: this role determines what Gigs says and calls its products, then briefs brand marketers on content and distribution. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the Technical Product Marketing Manager works day to day with Gigs’ founders and collaborates with product, engineering, commercial, sales, partner, and brand teams. The role develops messaging for partners, employees, and investors; packages platform capabilities into sellable segments; shapes the company’s AI narrative; equips sales and partners; maintains consistent terminology; and presents work early for founder feedback. The role is hybrid, based in the San Francisco or New York offices, with regular time in a hub and occasional travel.

Requirements

  • Technical product marketing experience grounded in engineering, or deep product understanding comparable to that of a technical writer; able to read and follow architecture documents and API references.
  • Structured thinking and the ability to organize a platform into clear categories with a systematic naming approach.
  • Senior-level experience owning positioning for a product line or launch, with the ability to set an independent agenda.
  • Strong writing skills, producing clear, precise, concise prose that engineers and partner product leaders can readily understand.
  • Self-direction: able to identify relevant people, ask focused questions, and make progress without a detailed brief.
  • Ability to adapt product messaging for different audiences, including engineers, partner executives, and investors.
  • Commercial instinct and understanding of how segmentation and packaging affect price and margin, and how bundling can differentiate a phone plan.
  • Comfort presenting unfinished work to founders, receiving direct feedback, and defending recommendations with sound reasoning.
  • Daily use of AI tools and judgment about when human judgment should take over.
  • Background in platforms or infrastructure; experience in payments, fintech, developer platforms, or infrastructure software is relevant.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building a product taxonomy or naming system from scratch.
  • Familiarity with carriers, eSIM, or B2B2C models.
  • Experience at an acquired company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the platform, its current capabilities, and its roadmap by working with product and engineering teams.
  • Create a clear product taxonomy and naming system, ensuring consistent terminology across teams and materials.
  • Segment and package platform capabilities into distinct products in collaboration with product and commercial teams.
  • Write audience-specific product narratives for partners, employees, and investors, including product sections of investor materials.
  • Brief brand marketing on messaging for engineering blogs, external stories, and other content.
  • Develop a longer-term AI narrative alongside the embedded connectivity story, working with founders and product teams.
  • Turn the roadmap into messaging for sales and partner marketers, and help partners explain bundling and differentiation of phone plans where useful.
  • Maintain a glossary and identify inconsistent product, vertical, or department terminology in decks, posts, and pitches.
  • Share new thinking early with founders through short updates and live walkthroughs, incorporating feedback while work can still change.
  • Use AI tools in research and drafting, and help shape how Gigs is described by LLMs and other AI-driven channels.
