About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a Technical Laboratory Supervisor to provide technical oversight of waived laboratory testing across six neighborhood clinics in the Duluth area. The role supervises six direct reports at two locations and supports bench operations and direct patient care, including phlebotomy collections as needed. The supervisor oversees training, competency assessments, scheduling, and regulatory compliance. The position may also oversee the radiology department, when applicable.

Requirements

Graduate of a four-year degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent, or meet CLIA guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing through an alternative route.
Two years of previous experience in a hospital or clinic laboratory.
Current American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

Oversee operations of the laboratory’s technical section(s).
Manage staff, workflows, and daily operations.
Maintain policies and procedures.
Perform staff competency assessments.
Monitor statistics and test utilization.
Ensure fiscal responsibility.
Comply with regulatory standards and maintain accreditation.
Manage human resources according to Essentia Health guidelines.
Demonstrate excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
Promote positive relationships with patients, coworkers, other departments, external partners, and stakeholders.
Collaborate with departments and committees to maintain a high level of care.
Support the mission and vision of Essentia Health.
Oversee the radiology department when applicable.
