About The Position

Supervises the technical and non-technical activities of assigned clinical laboratory sections to ensure testing operates efficiently and effectively and complies with system and regulatory agency standards. Provides input into department policies and procedures and ensures laboratory personnel maintain current knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment operation. Assists in meeting the laboratory’s business, financial, customer, service quality, and regulatory requirements, and serves as a technical resource for department personnel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related field.
MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
Four years of experience in a related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to effectively direct or supervise employees.

Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned laboratory sections.
Plan daily work schedules and assignments to ensure work is completed and reported promptly and accurately; support managers with scheduling and coverage arrangements.
Assume departmental responsibilities as needed, including when scheduled or when staffing shortages occur.
Monitor turnaround times, investigate and implement corrective actions, and monitor inventory and order supplies to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant testing.
Comply with preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Provide technical support to subordinates in resolving complex problems and investigate and recommend corrective actions in response to incident reports or patient complaints.
Develop, train, and evaluate laboratory staff and participate in the hiring process.
Suggest improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and resolve operational problems to the manager.
Perform and verify staff competencies.
Perform other related duties as required and directed.
