About The Position

Safety-Kleen is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor in Buffalo, NY, to oversee sample preparation and analysis to determine chemical and physical properties, including non-routine analyses, and to manage laboratory operations. The role also serves as Technical Director for the facility’s ELAP program. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST. Training is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the first few weeks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science, including 24 college semester credit hours in chemistry.
At least 2 years of experience in environmental analysis.
At least 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience with GCMS instrumentation.
Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments or tests, such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Good work ethic.

Some knowledge of the New York State ELAP Program.

Responsibilities

Follow health and safety policies and processes and act safely at all times.
Maintain a safe working environment compliant with applicable OSHA regulations and company health, safety, and compliance protocols.
Perform sample analyses according to prescribed procedures and resolve minor problems.
Serve as Technical Director for the facility ELAP program.
Calibrate and operate instrumentation.
Maintain equipment and suggest solutions to problems.
Complete analysis-related paperwork neatly and in a timely manner.
Ensure work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines.
Manage supplies in the assigned area, including housekeeping and best management practices.
Properly manage waste generated by analytical procedures.
