Technical Enablement Engineer

Apple•Seattle, WA

About The Position

The Apple Services Engineering Security team builds and provides secure systems and infrastructure for Apple services. The Technical Enablement Engineer helps engineers across Apple build secure software by bridging security guidance and engineering practice. The role creates documentation, automation, and learning resources that make secure development intuitive, accessible, and low-friction at scale, translating technical requirements into actionable guidance and supporting adoption of security practices, tools, and frameworks as standards evolve. This highly collaborative, cross-functional role combines software development, technical writing, and strategic communication. The engineer owns resources used by application, infrastructure, and platform engineers to build securely, and drives measurable adoption of security practices across Apple's engineering community. The role includes maintaining security guidance and documentation; building Slack-based and Radar-related automation; creating and improving LLM skills and instructions for security-focused development and team communications; and planning, executing, and evaluating internal outreach campaigns.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in software engineering, developer experience, or technical writing, with strong hands-on development skills.
  • Understanding of software development, deployment, process, and monitoring principles (SDLC).
  • Experience in software supply chain engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to write production-quality automation, including Slack workflows and integrations, and tooling for issue and ticket lifecycle management such as Radar.
  • Experience authoring technical documentation for engineering audiences, including FAQs, how-to guides, onboarding materials, and reference documentation.
  • Familiarity with LLM-assisted development tools and experience writing prompt instructions, skills files, or system prompts to shape model behavior for specific domains.
  • Experience designing and executing internal communications or outreach campaigns for technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • Familiarity with application security principles, secure coding practices, software supply chain security, or developer-facing security tooling.
  • A portfolio or examples of technical documentation, automation scripts, or LLM skills files.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain security guidance, including FAQs, skills libraries, decision guides, and onboarding documentation for software engineers.
  • Identify documentation gaps by analyzing inbound questions, support trends, and Radar submissions, and proactively address those gaps.
  • Establish and uphold documentation standards so content remains accurate, discoverable, and aligned with evolving engineering practices.
  • Design and build Slack-based automation to surface security FAQs, route questions to resources, and reduce repetitive support work.
  • Develop automation that streamlines Radar creation and helps engineers file well-structured, actionable reports.
  • Build feedback loops that capture frequent engineering questions and feed insights into living documentation and feature requests.
  • Author skills files and system-level instructions for LLM-assisted development tools that encode security best practices, including software supply chain security and secure SDLC practices.
  • Create reusable LLM skills for writing, communications, and outreach to support consistent, high-quality content.
  • Iterate on LLM skills using engineer feedback and observed usage patterns to improve accuracy and relevance.
  • Plan and execute internal communications campaigns to promote security practices, tooling, and policy changes.
  • Develop and adapt outreach strategies for different engineering audiences, selecting suitable tones, formats, and channels.
  • Coordinate rollout communications for new security requirements and capabilities with engineering leads and program managers.
  • Track outreach effectiveness and use data to refine messaging and delivery.
