Technical Delivery Manager

SPHERE Technology Solutions•Newark, NJ

About The Position

SPHERE is seeking a Technical Delivery Manager to lead implementations and upgrades of SPHEREboard, its identity intelligence platform. The role leads a delivery pod of technical engineers, dedicated Support and engineering resources, and works alongside clients, subcontractors, and client-assigned resources. The Technical Delivery Manager is the client's primary point of contact from kickoff through go-live and helps scale delivery so implementations and upgrades become faster and more consistent. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The manager plans implementations, version upgrades, and environment migrations; guides clients through infrastructure readiness; and configures, tunes, and troubleshoots SPHEREboard integrations and scans. The role also helps clients validate identity data, pilots remediation capabilities, and serves as a technical liaison to Engineering and Product. SPHEREboard experience is not required; the person is expected to become hands-on proficient in the platform and its behavior across client environments within the first 90 days. The role includes coaching and developing the delivery pod, forecasting capacity, standardizing delivery practices, managing partner resources and SOW-related work, and improving delivery metrics. It also enables clients to operate SPHEREboard independently after go-live, builds trusted relationships with technical and executive stakeholders, communicates risks and progress, and partners with Sales, Product, and Support to resolve obstacles and identify expansion opportunities.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of experience in identity security or infrastructure, including 5 or more years delivering identity programs such as PAM, IGA, or Active Directory.
  • Experience in a services or customer delivery role at an enterprise software company, implementing or upgrading that company’s own product.
  • Demonstrated player-coach experience leading engineers and/or project managers while remaining hands-on in client environments.
  • Working fluency across Active Directory, LDAP, Entra, Windows, UNIX/Linux, databases, file systems, AWS, Azure, CyberArk, SailPoint, and ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Hands-on depth in at least two of the listed technology areas, ideally Active Directory plus PAM or IGA.
  • Understanding of privileged access, effective permissions, and account ownership across the relevant systems.
  • Ability to navigate PowerShell scripts and SQL queries, understand their purpose, follow their development, and validate their results.
  • Track record of standardizing delivery with playbooks, templates, or tooling that improved implementation speed and predictability.
  • Working knowledge of services commercials, including SOWs, time-and-materials versus fixed-fee arrangements, and change orders.
  • Ability to translate technical issues into business risk for client executives and teach client technical teams, both in writing and in person.
  • Experience navigating complex enterprise stakeholder structures and building consensus across teams.
  • Based in the U.S. Eastern or Central time zone and able to travel to client sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Former identity engineer or architect who has moved into delivery management.
  • Spanish-speaking ability.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and run SPHEREboard implementations, version upgrades, and environment migrations, including Dev-to-Prod and on-premises-to-SaaS migrations.
  • Guide clients through infrastructure readiness, including systems permissions, network access, and database sizing.
  • Work hands-on in client engagements to configure, tune, and troubleshoot SPHEREboard integrations and scans alongside pod team members.
  • Partner with clients to validate identity data across directory, HR, and CMDB sources.
  • Run small-scale pilot remediations to configure and demonstrate SPHEREboard’s remediation capabilities.
  • Serve as the technical liaison to Engineering and Product regarding client needs and priorities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the delivery pod, set goals, hold team members accountable, and create individual development plans.
  • Plan and forecast capacity across concurrent engagements and balance priorities to protect client commitments.
  • Develop standard playbooks, readiness checklists, reusable scripts and configurations, and predictable implementation and upgrade timelines.
  • Define completion criteria with Support and lead the transition to ongoing support, including documentation and client sign-off.
  • Track and improve delivery metrics, including time to production and upgrade cycle time.
  • Share field insights with Engineering and Product to improve the product and delivery experience.
  • Manage subcontracted and partner delivery resources, including hours and budget against SOWs, technical quality review, and change control.
  • Teach client teams how SPHEREboard works and transfer the knowledge needed for independent operation after go-live.
  • Showcase new features and capabilities during upgrades and help clients put them to use.
  • Build client relationships and communicate clearly with technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Identify risks early, explain their business impact, and recommend options to clients and leadership.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, and Support to align priorities and resolve obstacles.
  • Review SOWs and levels of effort, track scope and change orders, and partner with Sales on expansion opportunities.
