About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the PSYC 1F90 Foundations of Psychology (Peer Facilitator) course for the Fall/Winter academic terms. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The nominal workload is 205 hours per full credit course appointment. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in PSYC 3P01 for the D1 session in which they will hold the TA contract and must maintain good standing in that course
  • Must have earned their credit in PSYC 1F90 within the past five years (e.g. no earlier than 2020-2021)
  • Must have completed at least two years of a university program
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead group discussions and be supportive of students
  • Must have good organizational skills and an ability to keep accurate records/manage data
  • Must be able to attend all seminars and lectures as assigned
  • Students who are currently entering their third year of study are particularly encouraged to apply
  • In the event that vacancies remain after work has been allocated to students in PSYC 3P01, other applicants will be considered
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency
  • For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 1F90)
  • For courses taken elsewhere, provide a transcript (a copy of your course outline and grade summary from your student self-serve at that institution is sufficient); highlight the course and provide the course description
  • Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application

Responsibilities

  • Attend PSYC 1F90 lectures and take notes
  • Normally lead 4 seminars per week for the fall and winter terms
  • Grade student participation
  • Proctor the December and April exams and attend the grade collation meeting held approximately 7-10 days following each exam
  • Complete assigned readings and preparation for seminars
