About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Marker-Grader position in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course PSYC 1F90, Foundations of Psychology. Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications the employee holds, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Duties will include marking written assignments and/or short answer exam questions. The total marking stipend is 0.8 hours multiplied by the number of registered students. Due to large class sizes, constrained turn-around times, and legislated restrictions on weekly hours of work, this position will be split among multiple successful applicants. Some responsibilities will require in-person work. The number of nominal hours assigned to a Marker-Grader may vary from department to department and from course to course.

Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum BA in Psychology with an average of at least 80, and have taken PSYC 1F90, and achieved a grade of at least 80.
  • Adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style.
  • Demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn how to screen turnitin.com reports and identify potential issues of academic misconduct.
  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrate the availability to complete marking within a constrained turn-around time.

Responsibilities

  • Marking written assignments and/or short answer exam questions.
  • Screening turnitin.com reports and identifying potential issues of academic misconduct (as assigned).
  • Providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Explaining all course topics clearly.
  • Keeping accurate records/managing data.
