About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Marker-Grader for the PSYC 2P01, Roadmap to Careers in Psychology course for the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 academic term. The marker will be responsible for marking reflection papers related to students' volunteer experience. Compensation for Marker-Grader positions is based on the employee's qualifications, with hourly rates ranging from $19.00/hour for first-year complete to $36.00/hour for a Master's Degree Complete. The total stipend will depend on course enrollment, calculated at 0.25 hours per registered student. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.

Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum 3rd Year complete and currently enrolled in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 85; and have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 85.
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.
  • Must have excellent time management skills in order to mark student work within a constrained turn-around time.
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style.
  • Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 1F90). For courses taken elsewhere, provide a transcript (a copy of your course outline and grade summary from your student self-serve at that institution is sufficient); highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.

Responsibilities

  • Mark reflection papers relating to students' volunteer experience.
  • Maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants, and enrolled students by email and audio-video conferencing.
