About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant position in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course PSYC 3F40, Psychological Research, for the Fall/Winter term. The position involves marking essays and/or assignments and requires availability at the end of term to mark papers within a constrained turn-around time. The nominal workload is 300 hours per full credit course appointment, with the total stipend depending on course enrollment. This position may be job-shared. Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have completed PSYC 5F01 with a grade of at least 85.
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.
  • Must have excellent time management skills in order to mark papers within a constrained turn-around time.
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style.
  • Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Must be able and willing to present material/conduct seminars remotely.
  • Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and by audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings and to conduct seminars and office hours via audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 1F90). For courses taken elsewhere, provide a transcript (a copy of your course outline and grade summary from your student self-serve at that institution is sufficient); highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
