About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for NUSC 3P02, Advanced Nursing Topics 2, for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role involves scheduled contact time with students, leading seminars and activities, and non-classroom responsibilities such as preparing materials, student consultation, marking, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. Requirements

  • Current registration as Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students
  • Punctual in attending classes
  • Able to meet appropriate deadlines
  • Comfortable delivering a range of interactive learning formats across the course's obstetric, pediatric, informatics, and professional-practice content, including role plays and handovers, card-sort and clinical-judgment games, health-data analysis, and case-based discussion, using the provided facilitation guides and answer keys to keep content accurate and consistent across sections
  • Strong group facilitation skills

  • Screening a recorded lecture

  • Running the prescribed graded activity as the sole in-class facilitator
  • Delivering a range of interactive learning formats across the course's obstetric, pediatric, informatics, and professional-practice content
  • Circulating and prompting during small-group work
  • Managing timed activity rounds
  • Leading debriefs
  • Fairly grading weekly student participation and activity performance in Brightspace
