About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant for the Business Communications Networks course (ADM4378) during the Fall 2026 semester at the Telfer School of Management. The role involves marking reports, essays, and supporting students with labs and hands-on activities, as well as proctoring exams. The total expected work hours are 96, with the majority allocated to grading. The position requires good English communication skills and knowledge of data networking, including TCP/IP, network security, and business contexts of data communications networks. Experience with online course delivery and videoconferencing is considered an asset. Candidates may be interviewed and may be required to write a test. The work must be performed in Ottawa for the entire duration of the course. The hiring process will be governed by the CUPE 2626 collective agreement.

Requirements

  • Minimum C.G.P.A. of 7.0
  • Minimum grade of A in ADM 4378 or equivalent
  • Good English communications skills
  • Good knowledge of data networking
  • Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, Network applications, network security, as well as business contexts of data communications networks
  • Must be located in Ottawa for the entire duration of the course (with the exception of official University holidays), including through the grading of the final exam and calculation of final grades by the professor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with online course delivery considered an asset
  • Experience with online videoconferencing environment considered an asset (ex. Microsoft Teams)
