About The Position

This posting is for up to two unionized contractual appointments for a Teaching Assistant position in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education for the course EDKP 292: Nutrition and Wellness. The total hours of work per term are estimated at 100. A Teaching Assistant is a Graduate Student employed to assist the Course Supervisor in a classroom environment. Positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM). The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for assessing students' peer- and self-evaluations of project deliverables, providing feedback on project progress, and assisting the instructor with in-class exercises. The role involves marking remotely delivered assignments and examinations, entering grades in MyCourses, holding office hours, and assisting in making and setting case studies.

Requirements

  • Must be thorough, diligent and consistent.
  • Must be responsible and willing to provide in-person (virtual) and real time feedback to students.
  • Graduate student (Kinesiology and Physical Education) or (Dietetics and Nutrition).
  • Demonstrated experience with the use of a virtual learning platform [e.g., Microsoft Forms, Zoom, WebEx, MyCourses] to assist with remote delivery of course material.
  • Good master of English (English and Spoken).
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.

Nice To Haves

  • French is an asset.
  • It is also recommended that applicants have done well in undergraduate courses in exercise physiology and nutrition, especially EDKP 292.

Responsibilities
