About The Position

This posting is for two to five unionized contractual appointments for a Teaching Assistant (TA) position for the EDKP 261 KPE F26 course. A Teaching Assistant is a Graduate Student employed to assist the Course Supervisor in a classroom environment. Teaching Assistant Positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM). The TA will be responsible for assisting in lab experiences and assessing students' peer- and self-evaluations of project deliverables throughout the semester, offering feedback on their project progress, and assisting the instructor with in-class exercises. The position requires the TA to be thorough, diligent, consistent, responsible, and willing to provide in-person (virtual) and real-time feedback to students. The primary duties include managing laboratory experiences for undergraduates, including presentation and grading, assisting the instructor with maintaining the record of grades, setting up the library of questions for the final examination, managing remote delivery of laboratory-related work, and corresponding with students.

Requirements

  • Must be thorough, diligent and consistent
  • Must be responsible and willing to provide in-person (virtual) and real time feedback to students
  • Undergraduate degree in physical education, kinesiology or equivalent
  • Successfully completed course in Motor Development
  • Successfully completed at least one other course in the social-behavioral sciences of Physical Education
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located
  • English communication both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Manage laboratory experiences for undergraduates, including presentation and grading
