Teacher Assistant Infant, Toddler, Preschool and Floater
About The Position
Apple Montessori Schools is hiring a Teacher Assistant to support infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms, as well as serve as a floater. Working closely with Lead Teachers in a nurturing Montessori environment, the Teacher Assistant helps children explore, grow, build independence, form friendships, and develop confidence and curiosity. The role is located in Mahwah, New Jersey, with Monday-to-Friday shifts available: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m., or 3:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m. The position includes maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment; assisting Lead Teachers with lesson plans; maintaining student records and supporting family communication; and encouraging children’s individuality, independence, creativity, and positive self-image. The Teacher Assistant also models appropriate social behavior and participates in staff meetings, professional development, training, and mentorship programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
- A genuine love of children.
- Physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children.
- Understanding of health and safety guidelines.
- Capacity to multitask and function in an ever-changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment for all students.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to support and implement lesson plans.
- Maintain accurate student records and assist with family communication.
- Encourage positive self-image while supporting individuality, independence, and creativity.
