Teacher Assistant Infant, Toddler, Preschool and Floater
About The Position
Apple Montessori Schools is hiring a Teacher Assistant to support children in infant, toddler, preschool, and floater classrooms in a nurturing Montessori environment. The assistant works closely with Lead Teachers to help children explore, grow, and build independence, providing warmth, encouragement, and guidance as they try new experiences, form friendships, and develop confidence and curiosity. The position is located in Mahwah, New Jersey. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with various shifts available: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m., or 3:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m. The listed salary is $17.00.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
- A genuine love of children.
- Physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children.
- Understanding of health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to multitask and function in an ever-changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment for all students.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to support and implement lesson plans.
- Maintain accurate student records and assist with family communication.
- Encourage positive self-image while supporting students’ individuality, independence, and creativity.
- Model appropriate social behavior and actively engage with students.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, trainings, and mentorship programs.
