About The Position

AIG is seeking Summer Interns for the Underwriting - Aviation department to play a part in transforming how customers manage risk. The internship offers opportunities to learn and grow skills and experience as a valued member of the team. The Specialty Aviation business helps clients navigate the unique risks of a fast-moving global industry, providing tailored insurance solutions for aircraft operators, airports, manufacturers, and airlines. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals to deliver innovative coverage solutions and exceptional client service, supported by a global network. The Summer Intern program immerses participants in the day-to-day operations of a global insurance company over 9 weeks, providing hands-on experience, industry knowledge, and opportunities to work on dynamic projects. Interns will gain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse environment, participate in instructor-led masterclasses, hear from senior leaders, and build connections through mentoring and networking. Following the program, interns may be considered for roles with the Analyst program beginning in July 2028.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028 (unofficial transcript required upon application).
  • Available for the complete Summer Internship Program from June 7 through August 6, 2027.
  • Summer Intern positions are in-person opportunities, requiring interns to work in the office at least four days per week.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors include Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Aviation Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in aviation, commercial insurance, or risk management.
  • Interest in evaluating complex risks.

Responsibilities

  • Support the evaluation and underwriting of aviation risks across areas such as aircraft operators, airports, manufacturers, and airlines.
  • Review underwriting submissions, exposure information, loss history, and other relevant data to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
  • Partner with experienced underwriters, claims professionals, attorneys, and risk specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
  • Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging aviation risks to support informed underwriting decisions.
  • Develop technical knowledge of aviation insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
