AIG is seeking a Summer Intern for the Underwriting - Marine department to contribute to the transformation of how customers manage risk. Interns will work alongside underwriters, risk consultants, claims professionals, and multinational specialists to evaluate complex exposures, develop tailored insurance solutions, and build profitable portfolios in a dynamic marketplace. Marine professionals utilize data, market insights, broker relationships, and industry expertise to support decision-making and drive sustainable growth. AIG Marine delivers innovative, customized solutions to help clients navigate evolving risks and maintain confidence in global commerce. Summer Interns are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a global insurance company, gaining hands-on experience and industry knowledge. They work with leaders on dynamic projects, with opportunities for challenges, learning, and achievement. Interns join key business teams to gain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse environment. The program includes instructor-led masterclasses, sessions with senior leaders, and networking through mentoring circles, events, and volunteering. Interns may be considered for roles in their internship location, with the Analyst program beginning in July 2028.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028 (unofficial transcript required upon application).
  • Available for the complete Summer Internship Program from June 7 through August 6, 2027.
  • Summer Intern positions are in-person opportunities, requiring interns to work in the office at least four days per week.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors include Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in global trade, transportation, commercial insurance, or risk management.
  • Interest in evaluating complex exposures.

Responsibilities

  • Support the evaluation and underwriting of risks across Inland Marine, Ocean Cargo, Marine Liability, and related specialty products.
  • Review underwriting submissions, exposure information, loss history, and other relevant data to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
  • Partner with underwriters, risk consultants, claims professionals, and multinational specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
  • Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business, renewals, and profitable portfolio growth.
  • Analyze market trends and emerging risks related to transportation, global trade, and commerce to support underwriting decisions.
  • Develop technical knowledge of marine insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
