Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Garland and the surrounding Dallas area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, covering lesson plans and serving as positive role models who support students’ learning and help them see new possibilities. Applicants may begin the interview process immediately, and Kokua states that candidates can receive an offer within one week of applying. Teachers set their own schedule and can work up to five days per week in assignments they choose. Assignments may also include lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Daily pay depends on education level and assignment type: candidates with an associate degree or at least 48 college credit hours earn $120 for daily assignments and $135 for long-term assignments; candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher earn $126 for daily assignments and $142 for long-term assignments. Pay is weekly via W-2. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments. The role can provide a pathway to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.
