About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Irving and the surrounding Dallas area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, stepping into teaching assignments and helping create positive learning experiences for students. They may also assist with lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.

Substitutes set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week, choosing from available assignments. Pay is $120 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments, paid weekly. The role offers a potential path toward permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Must pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
