About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Mesquite and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week in assignments they choose. The role offers daily and long-term assignments, with daily pay determined by education level, and weekly payment via W-2. Applicants can begin the interview process immediately; Kokua says successful applicants may receive an offer within one week. Substitute teachers help maintain learning environments and serve as positive role models for students. Assignments may also include lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to assist where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor's degree or higher qualifies for the higher daily pay tier.
Relevant experience working with students should be included on the applicant's resume.
