About The Position

Kokua is hiring substitute teachers to work in K-12 schools across the Miami area. Substitute teachers connect with students as classroom role models, foster a productive and enthusiastic learning environment, and contribute to students’ learning and development. Teachers can choose their teaching assignments and locations, with a flexible schedule of up to five days per week. Typical working hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Daily positions pay $124 per day, while long-term positions pay $143 per day; paychecks are weekly. The role is W-2 employment. Kokua provides access to a support team from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. The role may also provide experience that can help candidates pursue full-time positions at area schools.

Requirements

• At least a high school degree or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience working with students.
• State and federal fingerprint background check.
• A strong belief that a college education is possible for all children.
• Commitment to developing a school-wide culture that fosters a productive, enthusiastic learning environment.
• Enthusiasm for working in a school system seeking to change the status quo of education in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• An associate degree or at least 60 college credit hours is strongly preferred.
