Part-time Substitute Teacher - up to $144 daily
About The Position
Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers to work in K-12 schools across the Houston, Texas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers can set their own schedules and work up to five days per week in assignments they are excited about. Daily positions pay $129 per day, and long-term positions pay $144 per day; pay is weekly via W-2. The role offers a path to permanent positions at high-performing schools and support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Substitute teachers serve as positive role models and may also help with lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
- At least 48 college credit hours completed.
- Confidence managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
- Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
Responsibilities
- Teach and supervise students in K-12 classroom assignments.
- Manage a classroom of students and cover lesson plans.
- Provide lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, or test proctoring when needed.
- Serve as a positive role model and help students see what is possible.
