Part-time Substitute Teacher - up to $142 daily
About The Position
Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Dallas, Texas, for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, set their own schedules, and may work up to five days per week. Assignments can include daily or long-term teaching roles. Substitute teachers are expected to serve as positive role models and may also help with lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and testing proctoring. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as a potential path to permanent positions at high-performing schools. Applicants can begin the interview process immediately, with an offer promised within one week of applying. Pay is up to $142 per day and is paid weekly. Candidates with an associate degree or at least 48 college credit hours receive $120 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments. Candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher receive $126 per day for daily assignments and $142 per day for long-term assignments. Employment is paid via W-2. State and federal background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
- At least 48 college credit hours completed.
- Confidence managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and testing proctoring.
- Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
- Believe that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
