About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute paraprofessionals for K-12 schools across the Minneapolis area for the 2026-27 school year. The role offers a flexible schedule, with assignments available up to five days per week and a requirement to work at least two days per week. Paraprofessionals support students and classroom communities, helping foster an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. Duties may include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. The position pays up to $143 per day, with weekly paychecks. Additional pay is available for selected shifts. Kokua offers support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and free professional development. Employees are paid via W-2, and background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments. The role may also provide a path to permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
An associate degree or 60 college credits.
Confidence fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Willingness to step in where needed for duties such as supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
Willingness to work at least 2 days per week.
Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
