About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Duncanville and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers step into classrooms to cover lesson plans, serve as positive role models, and help students develop a love of learning. Assignments may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and testing proctoring.

Teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week, choosing from available teaching assignments. Daily pay is up to $126 for teachers with a bachelor’s degree or higher and up to $120 for teachers with an associate’s degree or at least 48 college credit hours. Long-term assignment pay is up to $142 and $135 per day, respectively. Employees are paid weekly via W-2. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and substitute teaching can provide a path to permanent roles at high-performing K-12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, hallway monitoring, and testing proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Believe every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.

Responsibilities

• Cover lesson plans and teach in K-12 classrooms.
• Manage a classroom of students.
