About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Duncanville and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, set their own schedules, and may work up to five days per week. Assignments may include daily or long-term teaching assignments, as well as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. The role is intended for educators who can serve as positive role models and support students’ learning and development.

Pay is up to $142 per day, paid weekly. Candidates with an associate’s degree or at least 48 college credit hours earn $120 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher earn $126 per day for daily assignments and $142 per day for long-term assignments. Employment is paid via W-2. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as a potential path toward permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.
