About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Arlington and the surrounding Fort Worth area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, covering teaching assignments and helping students see what is possible. Employees can set their own schedule and work up to five days per week, choosing assignments that interest them. Daily assignments pay $151 per day, while long-term assignments pay $167 per day; pay is weekly through W-2 employment. The role can provide a pathway to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and reimburses background-check costs after 10 assignments. Substitute teachers may also be asked to assist with lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, hallway monitoring, and test proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.

Responsibilities

• Cover teaching assignments and support learning in K–12 classrooms.
