About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Converse and the surrounding San Antonio area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, creating positive classroom experiences and serving as role models who encourage students’ love of learning. Teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week in assignments that interest them. Assignments may also include lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Daily positions pay $140 per day and long-term positions pay $172 per day, with weekly pay via W-2. Kokua says applicants can receive an offer within one week and will receive support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments. The role may also provide a path to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to help where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Believe that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.

Responsibilities
