About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, setting their own schedule and accepting assignments up to five days per week. They cover classroom lesson plans and serve as positive role models who encourage students’ learning and help them recognize their potential. Assignments may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and testing proctoring. The role offers pay of up to $145 per day, paid weekly via W-2, with the daily rate varying by education level. Kokua says applicants may receive an offer within one week and receive support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to take on school support duties where needed.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
