About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Garland and the surrounding Dallas area. Substitute teachers provide classroom coverage and serve as positive role models who encourage students’ love of learning. Assignments are available at K–12 schools, and teachers can set their own schedule and work up to five days per week in assignments they are most interested in. Substitute teachers may need to step in for other school duties, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Applicants can begin the interview process immediately, and the company states that candidates may receive an offer within one week of applying. The role may provide a path to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed for school duties.
Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Believe that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.

Responsibilities
