About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Mesquite and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers cover classroom assignments and help students learn by serving as positive role models. They may also be asked to support lunch and recess, monitor hallways, tutor students, or proctor during testing season. Teachers set their own schedule and can work up to five days per week in assignments they are most excited about. The role offers daily and long-term assignments, with pay based on education level and assignment length. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and offers a potential path to permanent roles at high-performing K-12 schools. Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and testing support.
Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.
