About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Irving and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers cover assignments in classrooms, serving as positive role models who encourage students’ love of learning. Teachers can choose assignments that interest them and set their own schedules, working up to five days per week. Assignments may include daily or long-term teaching, as well as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. The role offers a path to potential permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Applications are being accepted, and interviews can begin immediately.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.

Responsibilities

• Cover teaching assignments at K-12 schools in Irving and the surrounding Dallas area.
• Manage a classroom of students and support student learning.

• Serve as a positive role model and encourage students to recognize their potential.
