About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Converse and the surrounding San Antonio area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, serving as positive role models who support students’ learning and help them see new possibilities. Teachers can choose assignments and set their own schedule, working up to five days per week. Assignments may include daily and long-term positions, and substitutes may be asked to assist with lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, or test proctoring. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as a potential path to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to assist with duties where needed, including lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
