Part-time Substitute Teacher - Rio Grande City, TX
About The Position
Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Rio Grande City and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley area for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers step into classroom assignments, support learning, and serve as positive role models. They may also be asked to help with lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Teachers set their own schedules and can work up to five days per week, choosing from available teaching assignments. Kokua offers support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, and the position may provide a path to permanent roles at high-performing K-12 schools. Pay is up to $145 per day, depending on education level, and is paid weekly via W-2.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
- At least 48 college credit hours completed.
- Confidence managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
- Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
