Part-time Substitute Teacher - Mesquite, TX
About The Position
Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers in Mesquite and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers support K–12 classrooms by covering lesson plans and serving as positive role models who encourage students’ learning. Teachers can choose assignments and set their own schedules, working up to five days per week at schools across the Dallas area. Assignments may also involve lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as a potential path to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools. Pay is up to $142 per day and is paid weekly via W-2. Applicants with an associate’s degree or at least 48 college credit hours receive $120 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree or higher receive $126 per day for daily assignments and $142 per day for long-term assignments. The company states that candidates may receive an offer within one week of applying. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
- At least 48 college credit hours completed.
- Confidence managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to help with duties such as lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.
- Pass state and federal background checks.
- Believe that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
