About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for K-12 schools in the Windsor Hills, Dessau, and surrounding Austin, Texas area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers provide classroom coverage, serve as positive role models, and help students develop a love for learning. The position offers a flexible schedule, with the option to work up to five days per week and choose teaching assignments. Assignments may also involve lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The role may provide a pathway to permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools.

Pay is up to $200 per day and is paid weekly through W-2 employment. The listed daily rates are $129 for candidates with 48 or more college credits or an associate degree, $150 for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher, and $200 for long-term assignments at all qualification levels. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to assist with duties such as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
