About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Irving and the surrounding Dallas area for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers cover classroom assignments, serve as positive role models, and help students develop a love for learning. Assignments may include daily or long-term teaching, as well as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week, choosing from assignments at schools across the Dallas area. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The role pays $120 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments, with weekly pay through W-2 employment. Substitute teaching may also provide a path toward permanent roles at high-performing K-12 schools.

Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours completed.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring duties.
Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
