About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Spring and the surrounding Houston area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, helping students learn and serving as positive role models. Teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week in assignments they are most excited about. Assignments may include daily and long-term teaching positions, as well as lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and testing proctoring. The role offers a path to potential permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to help where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and testing proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Teach and support students in K–12 schools by covering classroom assignments and lesson plans.
• Manage a classroom of students.
• Step in where needed, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
• Serve as a positive role model and help students recognize their potential.
