About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Irving and the surrounding Dallas area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, covering assignments and helping create positive classroom experiences as role models who encourage students’ love of learning. Teachers can choose their schedule and work up to five days per week in assignments that interest them, with opportunities to build connections that may lead to permanent roles at high-performing schools. Support is available daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Compensation is up to $135 per day, paid weekly: $120 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments. Employment is paid via W-2. The role may also include lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Applications are being accepted for the 2026–27 school year, and the interview process can begin immediately.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring duties.
• Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Believe every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
