Part-time Substitute Teacher - up to $144 daily
About The Position
Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools across the Houston area for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers can set their own schedules and work up to five days per week in assignments they are excited about. Daily positions pay $129 per day, while long-term positions pay $144 per day; pay is weekly and issued via W-2. The role offers a potential path to permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Substitute teachers may also be asked to support school needs outside classroom instruction.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
- At least 48 completed college credit hours.
- Confidence managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring duties.
- Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Responsibilities
- Teach and supervise students in K-12 classrooms.
- Manage a classroom and support lesson plans.
- Perform other duties as needed, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
- Serve as a positive role model and support students' learning.
