About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers in Losoya and the surrounding San Antonio area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, covering lesson plans and serving as positive role models who help students see what is possible. Teachers can choose assignments and set their own schedule, working up to five days per week. Assignments may be daily or long-term, with pay of $140 per day for daily positions and $172 per day for long-term positions, paid weekly via W-2. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes substitute teaching as a pathway to potential permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools. Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to assist with duties such as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and testing proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Believe every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.

Responsibilities
