About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Kyle, Buda, Bluff Springs, and the surrounding Austin area. Substitute teachers provide classroom coverage and serve as positive role models who encourage students’ love of learning. The role may also involve lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Teachers can choose their schedule and assignments, working up to five days per week, and may use the experience as a path toward permanent roles at K–12 schools. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Applicants can begin the interview process immediately, and the company says offers are typically made within one week of applying.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring assignments.
• Must pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.

• A bachelor’s degree or higher is associated with a higher daily pay rate.
