About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Golden Acres and the surrounding Houston area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers can set their own schedules and work up to five days per week in assignments they are interested in. Daily positions pay $129 per day, while long-term positions pay $144 per day; pay is weekly and issued via W-2. The role may include classroom teaching as well as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as an opportunity to serve as a positive role model and make a difference in students’ lives. Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours completed.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring.
Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.
