About The Position

Kokua Education is accepting applications for part-time substitute teachers in Converse and the surrounding San Antonio area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools and can choose assignments and set their own schedule, working up to five days per week. Daily positions pay $140 per day, and long-term positions pay $172 per day, with weekly pay via W-2. The role offers a path to permanent positions at high-performing schools and support from Kokua staff daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Substitute teachers serve as positive role models who encourage students’ love of learning. Assignments may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Applicants should include relevant experience working with students on their resume.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to take on assignments where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and testing proctoring.
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks.

Responsibilities
