About The Position

Kokua is hiring part-time substitute teachers to work in K–12 schools across the Miami area. Substitute teachers connect with students as classroom role models, support learning, and help create productive, enthusiastic learning environments. Teachers can choose assignments and locations and work up to five days per week. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pay is up to $143 per day, with $124 per day for daily positions and $143 per day for long-term positions, paid weekly. The role is W-2 employment. Kokua offers a support team available daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the position may provide exposure to full-time opportunities at local schools.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience working with students.
• State and federal fingerprint background check.
• A strong belief that a college education is possible for all children.
• Commitment to developing a school-wide culture that fosters a productive, enthusiastic learning environment.
• Enthusiasm for working in a school system that is changing the status quo of education in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or 60 or more college credit hours strongly preferred.
