About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in College Station and the surrounding Houston area. Substitute teachers support K–12 classrooms by covering teaching assignments and serving as positive role models who encourage students’ love of learning. The role offers a flexible schedule, with the option to work up to five days per week in assignments of interest. Teachers may also be asked to assist with lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Daily positions pay $129 per day and long-term positions pay $144 per day, with weekly pay via W-2. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as a potential path toward permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to assist where needed with school duties such as supervision, tutoring, and proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Responsibilities

• Cover teaching assignments in K–12 classrooms and support students’ learning.
